Palomar Pomerado Health (PPH) is a public, nonprofit healthcare district in North County San Diego with hospitals in Escondido and Poway and several other facilities around the region.  PPH is always looking for ways to demonstrate the connection between human health and the environment, and has been a recent recipient of two Practice Greenhealth Partner Awards “for making significant progress toward environmental performance goals.”  PPH is also proud to be a leader in the region for Sustainability in Healthcare with comprehensive programs including benchmark and strategic initiatives & goals in the areas of Energy Efficiency & Alternative Generation, Water Conservation, Waste Reduction & Recycling, Sustainable Food Systems, Alternative Transportation, Environmentally Preferable Purchasing, Sustainable Sites & Gardens, and Education & Engagement.  With a service area of more than 800 square miles, PPH is the largest public healthcare district in California, and one of the largest in the United States.  Roughly 507,000 residents live in the district.
